Day or a Moment

(c) by DC Lessoway

sweet repose

dusty breath simmers
muted senses
in birthing light
bitter-sweet coffee
prods the body

foggy brains
sit, stand, pray
hidden, invisible
to the blathering man
safety behind drooping lids

cupboard abodes
another invariable
salaried hour
beans counted
ensnared loop, repeat

defeated, dreams fading
retreating masses
in stinking crates cuddled
return roads shadowed
in light’s abatement

teetering legs, shuffle
click of a lock, safe
walled sanctuary
enveloped familiarity
breath restored

sweet repose
