Away!
snap of the lock releases
my pedaled stallion, off!
through the muggy gusts
rush of car’s, horns, inhaling dust
danger at every crossing
reaching shadowed paths
rolling over crunching gravel
past stalwart, sweeping sentries
to find sanctuary
from life’s haste
stop, catching breath
my steed lain down
I upon a log, sit
here, the cool forest floor
removed from mid-summer’s heat
a moment, two, of deliberation
concentration, nudging the noise away
finding quiet, being attentive to the breeze
up there, tittering amongst birds
as all woes fall away
