Introverts Lament
How great, it must be
to get out, “in the crowd”
be the party’s life
to have a thousand
friends you see, converse with
each day
How wonderful, must it be
finding joy in the small things
finding a smile on your face
and no reason for it
passing the smile on
for the world to see
Oh to be in the sun, absorbing
the joy, being a part
wholly of the crowd
of all around you
in how it brings an
exuberance of life
How grateful I am
that I feel each moment
that I get overwhelmed by “too much”
that my scant friends are
profoundly close to me
knowing each day, is my own, and
being alone, is okay
